The aim of this study was to evaluate the therapeutic effects of eperisone hydrochloride on low back pain using electrophysiologic method. Twenty-two patients with intermittent claudication due to low back pain were treated with eperisone hydrochloride which was dosed in 150 mg/day for two weeks. The results were that the maximum walking ti me was statistically prolonged two weeks later (p<0.005) and the fatigue of the back muscle induced by walking was statistically decreased (p<0.05). Eperisone hydrochloride has the effects of increment in muscle blood flow and relaxation of muscle. This study suggests that these effects possibly improve intermittent claudication due to low back pain.
