Pitting corrosion behaviors and electrochemical polarization of Al-Zn clad Al-Mn alloy composite tubes electric resistance welded and vacuum heated were investigated. Zinc concentration in the composite material decreases with heating temperature and time. The position of the maximum zinc concentration shifts toward the core side. The material containing the maximum concentration of residual zinc 0.3% or more has a sacrificed anode effect of a liner material sufficiently to control pitting growth in the core material. The fact is attributed to electrochemical characteristics in AlCl3 solution.
