A method was developed for determining chloronitrobenzenes (<I>m-chloronitrobenzene</I>, 2, 4-dichloronitrobenzene, 2, 5-dichloronitrobenzene) and chlorobenzenes (pentachlorobenzene, hexachlorobenzene) as chemical agents and /or pesticides in the atmospheric environment.<BR>The components in an air sample were trapped by passing the sample through a Tenax TA tube, focused on the capillary column by using a thermal desorption cold trap injector (TCT) and determined by GC/MS. The breakthrough volumes of these compounds were 3.6-380m<SUP>3</SUP>at 20°C.<BR>The recovery for added compounds and relative standard deviation of the determined values were 76.3-129% and 4.0-11.6% respectively on 4 runs. The quantitation limits were 5.20-6.23pg/l.
