Effect of far infrared radiation-ceramics (YYT-1 and YYT-2) on alkaline and acid phosphatase activities in the first lower molar tooth germs of neo-natal rats in organ culture.

The present study was undertaken to examine the movements of alkaline and acid phosphatase activities in the cultured first lower molar tooth germ radiated by far infrared of YYT-1 and YYT-2.<BR>The right and left molar tooth germs were extracted from neonatal Wistar strain rats, and used as control and experimental groups respectively. These tooth germs were cultured in BGJ<SUB>b</SUB> culture media for 2 days, exchanging the culture medium every other day. The left tooth germs of the experimental group was radiated by YYT-1 and YYT-2 during its culture period. ALPase and ACPase activities were measured after 2 days in culture, using the Kind and King method (1954) .<BR>ALPase activity per μg protein was higher in the experimental group than in the control group after 2 days in culture. ACPase activity per μg protein after 2 days in culture was slightly higher in experimental group than in control group.<BR>From these results, it was suggested that ALPase activity in the cultured first lower molar radiated for infrared rays of YYT-1 and YYT-2 tend to increase after 2 days in culture.
