Extraction of Taiheiyo Coal under Hydrogen Pressure

Non-catalytic extraction of Taiheiyo coal, a subbituminous coal, was carried out by using a 500 cc autoclave under hydrogen pressure.And some properties and structural indices (see Table 5 and 6) were investigated to discuss the extraction and disinte-gration process of coal.<BR>As shown in Fig.2, maximum extraction yield was obtained at 420°C of 30 min reac-tion period under 80kg/cm<SUP>2</SUP>G initial hydrogen pressure.<BR>In this case, 0.46 gr molecular H<SUB>2</SUB> per 100 g coal was consumed and 2.37 wt% of coal was converted to gaseous products which consisted mainly of CH<SUB>4</SUB>.Average molecular weight of the extracts decreased with progress of extraction and disintegration.<BR>The structural indices and molecular weight of the extracts indicate that the extracts are composed of dimer of the structural unit which consists of three aromatic rings and two naphthenic rings.
