In the reaction between one mole of methane and O.6 mole of oxygen preheated equally to 600 °C., the theoretical equilibrium composition was calculated on the bumergas.Comparing the values with that of experimental results obtained by us and that of which apPeared in the literatures concerning the acetylene fo rmation from metharne, the distinct diHerences of the composidon were obserbed amongthem.With referenceto the calculations of the leaction rates based on the partial pressure of each componentand the theoretical ame temperature, we made severral qualitative discussions for eachreaction which was expected to take a part in the incomplete combustio of methne.
