The flow around a two dimensional circular cylinder with surface protrusions has been visualized by means of a new flow-visualization system which was proposed by the authors<SUP>1) </SUP>. Two types of surface protrusions were used in this study; one was a pair of tripping wires and the other was a small piece of adhesive tape.<BR>The results indicated an excellent applicability of this system to the visualization of the flow around a circular cylinder with surface protrusions. Furthermore, the effect of the small surface protrusion on the flow in the critical Reynoldsnumber range was clarified by using this system.
