In cell-free extracts prepared from cells of<I>Oral Treponema</I>sp. E-21 which was isolated from pus of human periodontal foci, β-D-galactosidase and β-D-glucosidase of which activities were high at acid pH regions (5.5-7.0) were detected. Although these enzymes were labile, the stability was increased by addition of one of the chelators (EDTA). However, no effects of EDTA on enzymic activities were detected.
