Investigations of physiological function of salivary peptides, P-B and P-C

To find out the physiological functions of salivary proline-rich peptides, P-B and P-C, their effects on the activities of parotid-and pancreas-amylase, trypsin, chymotrypsin, bacterial collagenase and angiotensin-converting-enzyme were studied. Interaction of these peptides with hydroxyapatite was also studied.<BR>The results demonstrate that P-B and P-C neither inhibit nor activate the tested enzymes, and have not strong affinity to hydroxyapatite.
