The concept of life or life span is commonly used not only for creature but also some products, meaning the time span when it works as expected. It is very difficult to define the life of materials and products scientifically because it differs according to a lot of elements such as the life of material itself, level of its manufacturing and the reason to end the life. For example the life of newspaper is controlled neither by the mechanical strength of paper nor by the freshness of information. The life suddenly ends by the will of the owner. The mechanism of the life differs between organic and inorganic materials. Physical deformation contributes the fracture of inorganic materials and chemically degraded molecular structure decides the life of organic materials. Furthermore psychological reason such as social fashion and the caprice of the owner decides the end of the use of product. Hence the life of material follows the life of products. This confusion makes it difficult to discuss material life independently from product life. This article tried to study the concept of life specifically.
