A 48-year-old female suffering from tinea corporis on her both forearms was reported. She and her family members had no history of tinea lesions. Her dog, however, had crusted erythema with alopecia on the abdominal wall.
KOH-mount examination revealed fungus elements in scales and crust taken from the lesions of the patient and her dog, and Trichophyton rubrum was isolated from both lesions.
The lesions of the patient were treated with topical antifungal ointment, but healed only after the cessation of the dog.
Discussion centered on the possibility of the dog being an infection source in this case.
