The present study was conducted to elucidate the influence of dietary protein type on the suppressive food intake induced by intracerebroventricular administration of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) in chicks.Chicks were fed semipurified diets containing five types of protein (soy protein isolate, wheat protein, casein, whole egg, and beef), and the influences of dietary protein types on 2-h food intake after central administration of GLP-1 were examined. Central administration of GLP-1 significantly decreased food intake of chicks regardless of dietary groups. There were differences in the effects of the dietary protein types on the decrease in food intake by GLP-1. The present findings suggest that the suppressive food intake caused by GLP-1 is influenced by dietary protein types.
