This study was conducted to utilize porcine viscera, especially lung, as the material of feed. The lung contained about 80.8% moisture in fresh matter and 80.6% crude protein, 11.6% crude fat and 5.6% crude ash in dry matter. Crude protein consisted of about 96% true protein and pepsin digestible nitrogen was 87.5%. Crude protein content of the lung was higher than any other viscera. The lung and digestive tracts were processed by chopping, steam heating and defatting and mixed in chick feed as the sole source of animal protein. Daily gain, feed intake and feed efficiency of 7-day-old chicks fed either the processed lung or digestive tracts for 3 weeks were almost the same as those fed the defatted fish meal. Digestible crude protein in the defatted lung and digestive tracts were 82.3% and 79.3% in dry matter, and nitrogencorrected metabolizable energy in these materials were 3.63 Mcal/kg and 3.61 Mcal/kg in dry matter. Amino acid composition in crude protein of the lung and digestive tracts were higher in glycine and lower in methionine than that of fish meal.
