• Blood plasma of quails was examined by the use of starch gel electrophoresis. Transferrins were classified into three types B, BC and C. From mating experiments, it was suggested that the types were under control of an autosomal locus with two codominant alleles TfB and TfC and that transferrin and conalbumin of the quail were controlled by alleles at the same locus. Although not available for the mating experiments, presence of the quail typed conalbumin AB suggested the existence of another allele TfA at the locus.
