Nutritive value of heterotrophic grown chlorella was determined using adult cockerels with the artificial anus. The following results were obtained.1. Apparent digestibility of chlorella and depigmented chlorella was 74% and 70-75%, respectively. Depigmentation did not increase the digestibility of chlorella.2. Biological value of chlorella and depigmented chlorella was 65-67% and 46-55%, respectively. Protein of 10% depigmented chlorella protein diet showed lower biological value than that of 5% depigmented chlorella protein diet. Depigmentation of chlorella decreased the biological value of chlorella protein.3. Metabolizable energy values of chlorella were 3.11 and 3.83kcal/g when the cockerels were fed 10 and 5% chlorella protein diets, respectively, whereas those of depigmented chlorella were 2.54 and 2.47kcal/g when the cockerls were fed 10 and 5% depigmented chlorella protein diets, respectively.
