We experienced a case of duodenal leiomyoma and multiple jejunal leiomyomas with von Recklinghausen's disease. A 50-year-old man was admtted to the hospital because X-ray examination of the upper digestive tract revealed a mass in the second portion of the duodenum. The patient had been dignosed as having von Recklinghausen's disease when he was 40 years old. On admission, anemia and multiple skin nodules were recognized. Endoscopic and X-ray examinations of the upper digestive tract and abdominal computed tomography revealed a submucosal tumor in the second portion of the duodenum. Operation was carried out under a dignosis of duodenal leiomyoma with von Recklinghausen's disease. At laparotomy, the duodenal tumor and further, multiple jejunal tumors with the diameter of maximum to 2.0cm, both growing extramurally were found. Both tumors were resected locally. Histopathological examinations of these tumors revealed leiomyoma. Only 68 cases including the present case just reported of myogenic tumor of the digestive tract with von Recklinghausen's disease have been reported in Japan. Some notes on the disease in a review of the literature are also presented here.
