A CASE REPORT OF BRONCHOGENIC CYST IN THE ESOPHAGEAL WALL WITH ELEVATED CA125, AND CA19-9 IN THE CYSTIC FLUID

Bronchogenic cyst is a rare entity among benign esophageal tumors. We experienced a case of bronchogenic cyst in the esophageal wall with elevated CA125 and CA19-9 levels in the cystic fluid. A 30-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital because of dysphagia. The patients was diagnosed as having a cyst in the esophageal wall by EUS, CT, MRI and was operated on. The cyst was bicameral type and the cotent was slightly mucinous, green-brown in color and non-smell fluid. Pathologically, the lumen was covered with cylindrical epithelium. Although lacking cartilage, a diagnosis of bronchogenic cyst by embryonal cacogenesis was made. Preoperative CA125 level in serum elevated to 150U/ml and CA19-9 level to 53.7U/ml, and CA125 level in the cystic fluid to 34×104U/ml and CA19-9 level to 32×106U/ml. Postoperative CA125 and CA19-9 levels in serum decreased to normal range. The case of bronchogenic esophageal cyst with elevated CA125 and CA19-9 levels is an extremely rare. There is a possibility that the measurements of CA125 and CA19-9 levels in the cystic fluid of the esophageal cyst may become a useful markers for diagnosing the bronchogenic esophageal cyst.
