Malignant lymphomas in the breast are uncommon and 155 cases have been reported in Japan. Of the 155 cases only 33 cases had the lymphomas in the bilateral breasts. Here a rare case of synchronous malignant lymphomas in the bilateral breasts is described.A 65-year-old woman was seen at the hospital because of bilateral breast tumors. As a result of mammography and echography, bilateral breast cancers were suspected, and excisional biopsy was performed. Histopathologically these tumors were malignant lymphomas, namely, diffuse lymphomas, medium sized cell type by LSG classification, and poorly differentiated lymphocytic, diffuse type by Rappaport classification. Preoperative systemic investigation showed no abnormal findings. Tumors were diagnosed as primarily arised in the breasts. The patient underwent bilateral modified radical mastectomy, and no lymph node metastasis was identified. Both lymphomas were in Stage IIE-A by Ann Arbor's classification. The operation was followed by 4 courses of VEMP therapy. There has been no recurrence, as of 4 years and 3 months after the operation.
