A 66-year-old man who had operated on for synchronous double cancer, i.e. gastric (A min, Borrman II type) and left breast cancers (Stage I, T1N1aM0) 6 years before, was seen at our hospital on January 30, 1989, complaining of a discharge from the right nipple. No mass could be palpated. Cytology of the nipple discharge revealed a class V adenocarcinoma. Hormonal investigation at the time of the second breast cancer operation revealed that serum estrone and testosterone levels were slightly elevated and urinary estrogen was elevated. Plasma prolaction stimulating test by TRH showed a hyperresponse pattern. Modified radical mastectomy was performed on the righ breast. Histologic study of the excised tissues revealed a noninvasive ductal carcinoma. <BR>In this case there was no clear predisposing factor, but possibly a hormonal imbalance that resulted in bilateral breast cancers. Six cases of primary bilateral carcinomas of the male breasts including this case that have been reported in Japan were reviewed and discussed.
