A case of primary non-Hodgkin's lymphoma of the breast was studied with light and electron microscopy.A 20-year-old woman was first seen at the department of surgery, Teikyo University School of Medicine on January 29, 1987, with left breast mass which had been present for four months. With light microscopy, this tumor was seen to be a poorly differentiated lymphocytic lymphoma, nodular according to Rappaport's classification. With electron microscopy of peripheral blood, lymphoma cells were frequently seen those were characterized by irregularly shaped nuclei and rich cytoplasmic organs, especially intracytoplasmic granular inclusion.Primary lymphoma of the breast is a rare disease and the initial biopsies may lead to misidiagnosis as anaplastic carcinoma. Correct diagnosis is essential so that appropriate treatment should be applied.
