11 cases with bilateral occipital infarction were analyzed. Sudden onset of visual loss, equal visual acuity for either eye, bilateral homonymous hemianopia, normal pupils and ocular fundi were characteristic signs. Additionally, advanced age, general vascular risk and past history of stroke, particularly unilateral occipital infarction were important for early diagnosis of bilateral occipital infarction.Furthermore, from analyses of bilateral homonymous hemianopia and CT findings, a correlation between retina and occipital lobe was discussed.
