One of the main issues in the development of printers is to achieve sheet-feeding stability with various kinds of sheets and to shorten the development period. In recent years, studies on sheet handling mechanisms have been performed that enable us to develop a sheet-feeding path efficiently; however, defects resulting from sheet-feeding instability still occur because many defects cannot be treated analytically. To achieve efficient development condition of printers, mechanism analysis of the paper-wrinkle generation phenomena in fuser unit has been conducted. In a former paper, a simple geometrical model based on observation of the generating process of paper wrinkles resulting from the distribution of paper feeding velocity in roller-nip area was built, and validity of the proposed alternative characteristic of wrinkles was verified. This paper describes the mechanism of paper-wrinkle generation phenomena resulting from instability posture of a sheet of paper at the entrance of fuser nip. To clarify the evaluation method of the paper-wrinkle, a model of inclined paper which is feeding into the fusing unit has been built. Substitutional experiments with inclined paper tray were conducted and it has been confirmed that estimating the maximum delay time at the exit on nip-area is possible by using the model. By using the proposed model, most paper-wrinkle generation phenomena in fuser unit can be treated analytically, and also efficient development condition of printers has been achieved.
