Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) is a unique polymer having many hydroxyl groups in the molecular frame. The PVA-fibers for industrial applications such as cement reinforcement and alkaline battery separators. Kuralon EC, a new electro-conductive PVA fiber, has been developed by taking advantage of the unique characteristics of PVA hydroxyl groups which interact with various kinds of metal ions. Copper nanoparticles are composed with PVA fibers to perform an electro-conductivity aiming at several applications of electromagnetic wave absorbents and sensor materials.
