The well known design of the "Red and Blue chair" by G. Th. Rietveld, a Dutch furniture designer from the beginning of the 20th century, was preceded by many types of variations. This study aims to precise the measurements of three of these types, showing that: 1. In addition to the intervals of multiples of 100mm grid, all the square bars follow an spacial propotion of 1:2.2. The measurements of the square bars are subtly different and most of them irregular. 3. The dimensions of seat and back support can be customized according to the deferent individual body measurements. Therefore, the proportion system of 1:2 is considered to be flexible because it uses various component's sizes that keep the basic composition. Moreover, this study deliberates an analysis including other Rietveld's works, in which it is observed the relevance of the "Red and Blue Chair" along his traditional and experimental designs.
