We report a rare case of papillary carcinoma of the thyroglossal duct. A 30-year-old woman visited our hospital with the chief complaint of a mass in the anterior neck. Although a cyst of the thyroglossal duct was suspected on physical examination, imaging examinations, including ultrasound, CT, and MRI revealed a solid pattern of the tumor mass. Fine needle aspiration cytology revealed malignant cells of papillary carcinoma origin. Surgical resection of the tumor mass along with a part of the hyoid bone was performed. Papillary carcinoma of the thyroglossal duct was confirmed by histopathological examination. Papillary carcinoma originating from the thyroglossal duct is relatively rare. However, it is important to keep the possibility of carcinoma of the thyroglossal duct in mind.
