This paper shows an essential part of the process of recent revision of the JSEE' s code of ethics, its old code and the newly revised one, the reasons for the revision, and what problems probably remain. Code of ethics should be public-minded and at the same time helpful to its membership. Therefore the code is to be reviewed and if necessary revised by the members themselves. As a result of the recent revision, the new ethical code of JSEE came to tell its members not to commit an injustice, not to let them do wrong and not to turn a blind eye to dishonest acts. Though this may seem a hurdle too high or a stumbling block to some, several large engineering societies in the U.S. have codified this kind of requirement. But in order for a society to be helpful enough to its members, it should provide them with just enough admonition as well as good enough mediation.
