A coloring matter produced in tne reaction between oxalacetic acid and Fast Violet B Salt (6-benzamido-4-methoxy-m-toluidine diazonium chloride) in almost a natural medium was isolated as red-violet needles of a melting point of 198°. An attempt was made to confirm whether the structure of the coloring matter produced and used fcr the determination of GOT activity was formazane as already postulated. And the compound was identified as the red form of a formazane derivative (Chart 1) on the basis of its spectral properties.
