The high speed cineradiographic analysis (120frames/sec) compared 4 types of mechanical tilting disc valves, Omniscience, Omnicarbon, Björk-Shiley and Medtronic Hall, implanted in aortic position. Maximum opening angle (MOA), maximum opening velocity (MOV), maximum closing velocity (MCV), opening time and closing time were measured. The occluder of the Omniscience valve irregulaly changed the velocity on its opening course. The Omnicarbon valve showed similar motion but large MOA, MOV and MCV compared with the Omniscience valve. The Björk-Shiley valve demonstrated smooth motion. The Medtronic Hall valve also showed good motion and the disc gradually decreased its opening velocity at the angle of about 65 degrees.
