CLINICAL EVALUATION OF VALVE REPLACEMENT WITH VARIOUS MECHANICAL VALVE

To evaluate the late results of valve replacement with Hall-Kaster (HK), Omniscience (OS), Bicer-Val (BV) and Björk-Shiley C-C (CC) valve, which we used for a short period only, we compared actuarial survival (AS), reoperation free (RF), and event free (EF) rates of these prostheses to those of the St. Jude Medical (SJM), valve prosthesis. Number of patients: HK20, OS68, BV37, CC28, SJM1284. AS: HK47.4%*, OS76.8%*, BV66.7%*, CC77.9%, SJM84.4%, RF: HK92.9%, OS89.7%*, BV79.9%0*, CC91.6%, SJM98.7%, EF: HK46.6%*, OS66.8%*, BV58.1 %*, CC68.7%*, SJM82.7% (* p<0.05 vs SJM). These results justify our decision to stop the usage of HK, OS, BV and CC.
