The community cultural industries in Taiwan have been driven by the policy of community building which was influenced by the community building movement in Japan since 1994. Yet due to the shortage of design skills for community cultural industries, the industrial value has not been lifted up in the past 16 years. In this paper the authors considered about the design processes for the local industry from the view of life cycle of industrial development. For the purpose of sketching the complete picture of design processes, this paper chooses the typical case (Bai-He ceramic workshop) as an example to conclude the key features in the four stages from its life cycle by the in-depth interviews, historical events review, and design method application. As a result, the findings of this paper tell four obvious issues which are related to the design processes of community cultural industries concluded from the lines of both spatial and time factors.
