• Surgical and interventional exclusion left atrial appendage (LAA) are becoming important alternatives to oral anticoagulation to prevent stroke caused by clot formation in the left atrial appendage during atrial fibrillation. Herein we present the different approaches to LAA occlusion. This can be achieved by endocardial and epicardial approaches. Each approach is depicted in detail and relevant literature is briefly presented.
