Though the life table for 1940 is demanded eagerly from various sides, its construction has been impracticable owing to inadequacy of the data as affected by the mobilization of a great scale for the Sino-Japanese Emergency.<BR>Since, however, the mobilization was restricted to the male, necessary statistical data for the female are adequate. Hence, believing it might be useful, the author constructed a life table for the female only, using as material the data of the census population of 1949 and the vital statistics for the period of three years from April 1930 to March 1942.<BR>The method adopted was the same as described in the Sixth Life Table published by the Cabinet Bureau of Statistics, 1941. The result is shown in Table 1 and Figs. 1-4, and compared with the previous ones (Tables 2-4).
