:The List of Current Periodicals Acquired by the Japanese Medical, Dental and Pharmaceutical Libraries: A Historical Review and a New Policy

For many years, Chinese and Korean periodical titles have been intermixed in their section of the List of Current Periodicals Acquired by the Japanese Medical, Dental and Pharmaceutical Libraries which is annually published by the Japan Medical Library Association (JMLA). But because of some differences of their language characteristics, periodical titles in those two languages should be separately cataloged and listed in each section of the List. Here were historically reviewed their editorial policies and their compilation in JMLA, and were surveyed their listing varieties in catalogs of several institutions. Based on those surveys, the former compiler (Showa University Library) and the present compiler (Medical librarians group in the Tokai region) present a new policy to change the intermixtural compilation of Chinese and Korean periodical titles, and the new policy was appeared in the 1982 edition of the List.
