Angular dependence of the fluorescence polarization spectra of anthracene was investigated in polyethylene films using a sample rotation technique. An important role of a nontotally symmetric vibration, the b<SUB>3g</SUB> ring vibration at 1655 cm<SUP>−1</SUP>, was further confirmed by a combination of this technique and the modulation polarization technique developed previously.
