Upon Rose Bengal-sensitized photooxygenation, indene and acenaphthylene afforded substantial amounts of the expected <I>cis</I>-glycols by means of the reduction of the intermediate dioxetanes. The formerly proposed structure of one of the isomeric methoxy hydroperoxides was revised on the basis of the chemical and spectral evidence.
