1,5-Naphthalenedisulfonyl dichloride was found to be useful as a bifunctional fluorescent probe for kinetic studies. Its reaction with butylamine in chloroform proceeds stepwise. The first reaction produces a nonfluorescent monosulfonamide and the second slow process forms a fluorescent disulfamide. Their rate constants were obtained. Another bifonunctional fluorescent probe was also examined briefly.
