• Kinetic measurements of rotamer isomerization of the title compounds show that the rotational barriers in these compounds are considerably higher than those in the <I>peri</I>-unsubstituted and the <I>peri</I>-chloro or <I>peri</I>-methyl compounds, affording a support to our earlier finding that the rotational barrier increases and then decreases as the <I>peri</I>-substituent becomes bulkier in 9-<I>t</I>-alkyltriptycenes.
