Oxidation of pyridoxine (PRX) by chloramine-B (CAB) in HCl medium at 313 K shows first order dependence each on oxidant, substrate and Cl<SUP>−</SUP> ion concentrations, but is independent of [H<SUP>+</SUP>]. A first-order retardation of rate is observed by the addition of reaction product, benzenesulfonamide. Suitable mechanism is proposed.
