The ultraviolet spectrum observed in γ-irradiated liquid nitrogen containing a small amount of oxygen has been ascribed to ozone. The ε<I>G</I> value was obtained. The dose rate effect on the yield of ozone was observed. The value of εm<I>G</I> was inversely proportional to the square root of the dose rate. This allowed us to discuss the formation mechanism of ozone in liquid nitrogen.
