Both (<I>S</I>)- and (<I>R</I>)-4-methylfarnesols, synthesized respectively from (<I>E</I>)- and (<I>Z</I>)-3-methyl-3-pentenyl diphosphates by means of farnesyl diphosphate synthase reactions, were demonstrated to be of almost 100% enantiomeric purity.
