• Starting from <I>o</I>-cresol, (±)-<I>cis</I>-5-5-hydroxycalamenene was synthesized through 4-isopropyl-5-methoxy-6-methyl-1-tetralone as a key intermediate and identified with the natural compound spectroscopically.
