• Cyanohydrin esters <B>1</B>–<B>31</B> have been prepared from α-ketonitriles and aldehydes using DABCO (1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2] octane) as nucleophilic acylation catalyst. The modified piperonal <B>8</B> was found to inhibit the formation of thromboxane synthetase.
