• The fixed charge density, the permselectivity, and the transport number in several electrolytic solutions of varying concentration were determined across the pericardial membrane of freshly slaughtered buffalo (<I>Bof. Bubalis</I>). The irreversible thermodynamic equations originally meant for understanding the behavior of artificial membranes have been found to be equally applicable to those of the biological membranes.
