• A convenient method for the preparation of primary amines by the use of bisarylsulfenimide has been established. Primary amines were obtained in good yields under mild reaction conditions by treating <I>N</I>-substituted bisarylsulfenimides with hydrochloric acid or mercaptan. The <I>N</I>-substituted bisarylsulfenimides were prepared in good yields by the reactions of lithium bisarylsulfenimide with alkyl halides or alkyl <I>p</I>-toluenesulfonates or by the addition reactions of bisarylsulfenimide to olefinic compounds.
