• The ESR spectra of silk γ-irradiated in a vacuum showed a doublet at room temperature and at −196 °C. The doublet turns to a singlet at <I>g</I>=2.006 by admission of O<SUB>2</SUB>. This is explained in terms of the formation of peroxide radicals.
