• A new method for the synthesis of pyrimido-[4,5-<I>e</I>][1,2,4]triazines from 5,5-dibromopyrimidines was studied. Condensation of dibromopyrimidines (<B>1a</B>, <B>b</B>) with aminoguanidine or its analogues gave the 6,8-dioxo series (<B>5</B>) of the pyrimidotriazine, and aminodibromopyrimidines (<B>2a</B>, <B>b</B>) gave the 6-amino-8-oxo series (<B>6</B>).
