The hydrogen-deuterium exchange rates of <I>Λ</I>- and <I>Δ</I>-[Co(en)<SUB>3</SUB>]<SUP>3+</SUP> were measured in D<SUB>2</SUB>O solutions containing (+)-tartrate ions. From the kinetic data, the ion-association constants of the <I>Λ</I>- and <I>Δ</I>-isomers with (+)-tartrate ions were determined to be 40 and 32 (<I>I</I>=0.1) respectively. Similar measurements with fumarate resulted in the association constant of 16 (<I>I</I>=0.1).
