Six new-sydnones [3-(3-pyridyl)-4-(<I>p</I>-chlorophenyl)sydnone (<B>1</B>), 3-(3-pyridyl)-4-(<I>p</I>-tolyl)sydnone (<B>2</B>), 3-(3-pyridyl)-4-(<I>p</I>-nitrophenyl)sydnone (<B>3</B>), 3-(3-pyridyl)-4-(<I>p</I>-aminophenyl)sydnone (<B>4</B>), 3-(3-pyridyl)-4-(<I>p</I>-acetamidophenyl)sydnone (<B>5</B>), and 3-phenyl-4-(α-phenylstyryl)sydnone (<B>6</B>)] were synthesized and examined for photochromic behavior. Sydnone <B>2</B> exhibited photochromism in the solid state upon UV irradiation (230–580 nm).
