• A series of substituted 6-Hydroxythiazolo[3,2-<I>a</I>]benzimidazoles has been synthesized. Their quaternary derivatives showed characteristic absorption maxima at longer wavelengths in visible region. The spectral study of parent compounds in the visible region shows a red shift at higher pH which is attributed to the dipolar nature of these compounds.
