The dissociation constant of phenylazochromotropic acid, p<I>K</I>a, has been estimated spectrophotometrically to be 9.30 (25°C, μ=0.1).<BR>The reagent reacts with thorium in the molar ratio 1:1, displacing one hydrogen atom, and the approximate value of the apparent stability constant of the complex, log<I>K</I>′, has been estimated to be 3.4∼4.9 in the 2∼3.5 pH value range.
